New Federal Cabinet takes oath

New Cabinet took oath in an oath taking ceremony held in the President House on Friday evening. President Zardari administered the oath taking ceremony of 22 federal ministers.

Prime Ministers Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has allocated the portfolios to the Federal Ministers and Minister of State, who took oath on Friday afternoon. The names of the Ministers/Minister of State and their portfolios are as under:1) Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo: Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs2) Ms. Samina Khalid Ghurki: Environment3) Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar: Defense4) Dr. Zaheeruddin Babar Awan: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs5) Dr. Firdos Ashiq Awan: Information and Broadcasting6) Makhdoom Shahabuddin: Textile7) Mian Raza Rabbani: Inter Provincial Coordination8) A. Rehman Malik: Interior9) Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh: Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs10) Syed Khursheed Shah: Religious Affairs11) Syed Naveed Qamar: Privatization12) Makhdoom Amin Fahim: Commerce13) Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani: Industries and Production14) Haji Khuda Bux Rajar: Narcotics Control15) Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan: Communication16) Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour: Railways17) Engr. Israrullah Zehri: Food and Agriculture21) Shahbaz Bhatti: Minorities22) Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs The charge of the following Ministries will remain with the Prime Minister:1) Water and Power2) Human Rights3) Information Technology and Telecommunication4) Defence Production5) Petroleum and Natural Resources6) Overseas Pakistanis7) Ports and Shipping8) Housing and WorksProminent members of the previous federal cabinet, who had not been included in the cabinet, are Qamar Zaman Kaira, Raja Parvez Ahsraf and Nazar Muhammad Gondal. Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan was given portfolio of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and in the previous cabinet she served as Minister for Women Development. The Cabinet also included one minister of state, Hina Rabbani Khar.Earlier, President Asif Ali Zardari approved the resignations of Federal Ministers. On Thursday, PM has removed Federal Ministers Pir Syed Fazal Ali Shah Gilani, Salman Farooqi, Khali Ahmed, Ch Abdul Ghafoor and Farzana Raja and State Ministers Salim Mandwiwala, Dr Ishfaq Ahmed, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and Dr Nadeemul Haq from their positions.On Wednesday, all the federal ministers tendered their resignations to Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani during the cabinet meeting.
