Turbat records highest maximum temperature in the country

For the second time, the highest temperature 53.5 degrees was recorded in Turbat.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Stormy winds and drizzle in various areas of Punjab last night gave relief to the fast observing faithful as the heat intensity witnessed a decline.

According to Met office, for the second time the highest temperature 53.5 degrees was recorded in Turbat. Before this, temperature went upto 52 degrees on May 30, 2009 in the city. Initially, the hottest day was measured in Mohenjo Daro that was 53.5 degrees.

On Sunday, 50 degrees was recorded in Sibbi, 49 degrees in Jacobabad and Dadu, 46 degreed in Rahim Yar Khan and Bhakkar, 45 degrees in Larkana, 44 degrees in Multan and 42 degrees in Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalnagar and Layyah. The maximum temperature in Lahore was 45 degrees whereas the minimum went down to 28 degrees. However; the worst loadshedding on the city heightened the heat intensity.



After a scorching day, the weather turned pleasant at night as strong winds, rainfall and thunderstorm occurred in various cities including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Jahanian, Sahiwal and Mianwali. Stormy winds in Lahore and Gujranwala division wreck the power system resulting into a blackout in numerous areas of the cities.

Shuttering equipment for Mominpura Orange Line Train station in Lahore was reduced to ashes due to fire. Stormy winds broke down 11KV wires of electricity in Begum Kot Shahdhra. Moreover; trees rooted out in Pasroor and darkness erupted in the area. Atleast 100 feeders of Gepco tripped in Gujranwala.

In the next 48 hours, Met office has predicted mainly very hot and dry weather in plain areas of the country. However, rain-thunderstorm is expected at a few places in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala divisions and Kashmir.
