Literacy schools teachers protest against delay in salaries

The literacy schools teachers of Hafizabad organized a rally from Fawara Chowk to Press Club and demanded provision of their 8 months blocked salaries. They also demanded that they should be appointed on permanent basis.

The teachers of literacy schools established during Benazir Bhutto era held a protest rally in Hafizabal and demanded the immediate payment of their 8 months’ delayed salaries.Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto established home-based education centres under the supervision of National Education Foundation. The prime objective of these centres was to provide education at common level. However, the federal government has decided to close 70% of these schools. Hundreds of teachers of these schools have not been paid for last 8 months.The teachers’ rally from gathered in front of Press Club and organized a sit-in. They chanted slogans in favour of their demands. The protesting teachers said that the government, on one hand, claims to provide bread, clothes and shelter to people but on the other; it is depriving teachers from their basic rights during this time of price hike.
