Five killed, dozens arrested during combing operations in country

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Atleast five terrorists were killed during Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) operation in Layyah on Sunday.

However; three of them managed to escape from the scene.

According to CTD, the terrorists were planning to attack a shrine in Multan.

At least four hand grenades and other weapons were recovered from their possession.

A search operation was also carried out in Kasur in which 31 Afghan nationals were arrested.

Police confiscated four rifles, 10 pistols and huge amounts of bullets from them.

Two other Afghan nationals were detained from Khanpur Landa Bazaar after police and intelligence agencies raided Zahir Pir areas.

More than 800 suspects including foreigners were arrested during nationwide combing operations yesterday.

The operations were conducted in various cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Karachi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Jhang, Nowshera and Sukkur.
