Pakistanis donate 240 billion rupees as Zakat, charity annually
It has been revealed that 98 percent of people donate in different ways.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistanis donate 240 billion rupees annually as Zakat and charity on individual level according to a report.
As per details, these figures were presented in a ceremony held at National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) on Tuesday which revealed 98 percent of people donate in different ways.
It has been disclosed that the charity ratio has increased by three percent from 1998 to 2014 as it has jumped to 240 billion rupees from 90 billion.
The report says 68 percent of these donations are directly given to needy relatives, disabled persons and beggars.
The charity that is given to Mosques and Seminaries is divided into two parts. Charitable organizations give three percent to them whereas individuals donate as much as thirty percent.
Population wise, Punjab is the biggest province and it donates 113 billion rupees annually. 78 billion rupees are given as charity in Sindh, 38 billion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and ten billion in Balochistan.
