Forged evidence presented against Maryam Nawaz, claims counsel
"Signatures of Maryam Nawaz on documents submitted by PTI in Supreme Court are fake"
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The counsel of Maryam Nawaz, advocate Shahid Hamid, claimed on Wednesday that documentary evidence submitted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against her defendant in Supreme Court is forged.
Dunya News has received the trust deed and Nescoll documents. There is a clear difference between signatures of Maryam Nawaz on these documents. Advocate Shahid Hamid had to provide a magnifying glass to court for analyzing his defendant s signatures.
The member of Supreme Court bench hearing Panama Leaks case Justice Ejaz Afzal gave remarks that only an expert of signatures can give his opinion on this matter. Another member Justice Gulzar Ahmed admitted that there is a clear difference in signatures.
Justice Asif Khoosa gave remarks that signature of Maryam Nawaz is available on her personal information form while it is not possible to acquire documents with her signature from Panama.
He called the matter of signature as a mystery because usually the family members sign each others’ forms. “Despite opinion from a signature expert, the court has to decide a verdict”, he cleared.
While giving remarks, Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan noted that it is the complainant’s duty to prove allegations. Such evidence cannot be accepted without verification.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb held a media talk after court proceeding. She claimed that three of the documents in PTI’s evidence have distinguishable signatures. “It has been proved that documentary evidence do not have Maryam Nawaz’s signatures”, she added.
