Defence minister Khawaja Asif told that former COAS will lead alliance of 39 Islamic countries

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Defence minister Khawaja Asif confirmed that former Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Raheel Sharif will be chief of the Islamic military alliance of 39 countries, reported Dunya News.

In an interview, Khawaja Asif confirmed that they followed a process before finalising this move and then this agreement was reached to allow Raheel Sharif to lead the Saudi Arabia led coalition of 39 countries.

Khawaja Asif said that he did not have many details regarding the matter. He refused to give any other information.

It is pertinent to mention that Army chief is not allowed to hold any office or give an interview until two years after the retirement.
