Army chief attends PK-661 First Officer's funeral prayer

An investigative body is yet to give its verdict after completing an ongoing probe

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Funeral prayer of late first officer of ill-fated PK-661 flight of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) that crashed on December 7 claiming 48 lives was offered on Thursday which was attended by Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Besides the army chief, the prayer meet was attended by Rawalpindi Corps Commander, Lieutenant General Zafar Iqbal, former Test cricketer Rashid Lateef and Saqlain Mushtaq among other dignitaries.

Ali Ikram was son to Colonel (r) Ijaz and nephew of Chairman of Punjab Public Service Commission, General (r) Sajjad.

Another funeral prayer was offered today in G-13 Islamabad, of a local named Muhammad Atiq who lost his life in the crash.

Reportedly, Atiq was an employee in a private company and was flying back to Islamabad from Chitral after concluding an official visit.

Late Atiq is survived by a two and a half years old son and a three-month-old son.

Ahmad Janjua’s funeral prayer was offered in Rawalpindi and he was buried in Pakistan Air Force (PAF) graveyard.

Resident of Faisalabad, late Khalid Masood was laid to rest in Mansoorabad graveyard while another passenger of the crashed flight, Gohar Ali was laid to rest in Malakand.

PK-661 crash on December 7 claimed lives of 48 persons including Junaid Jamshed, a religious scholar and District Coordination Officer (DCO) of Chitral.
