PTI intraparty elections postponed indefinitely, notification issued
Party's election commission office closed down, election to be held now after the general elections
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has on Tuesday issued a notification postponing the intraparty elections indefinitely. A notification has been issued by party chairman in this regard. Party’s election office has been closed down as the intraparty election will now be held after the general elections, reported Dunya News.
According to the notification, the election commission office will be made functional again after the new date for the intraparty elections is announced. The equipment under the commission’s use has been shifted to the central secretariat.
Imran Khan, PTI chairman, had earlier announced the intraparty election during the current year but the sources now say that they will be held only after the general elections. Panama fiasco and party’s internal rifts were the reasons behind the postponement of the election.
