High-level meeting discusses NAP implementation

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is chairing the meeting in Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is chairing a high-level meeting on the National Action Plan in Islamabad today (Tuesday).

National Security Adviser Nasir Janjua is briefing the participants about different aspects of the implementation of the NAP.

All the chief ministers, Advisers on Foreign Affairs and National Security, Foreign Secretary, Services Chiefs, DG ISI, Ministers of Defence, Interior, Minister of Information and Minister of Finance are present in the meeting.

The ambitious "plan of action" introduced after terrorist attack on Peshawar’s Army Public School in December 2014 included a wide range of measures including constitutional ammendments, banning space for terrorists in electronic and print media, destroying their communication systems, and the repatriation of Afghan refugees.

The plan also includes cutting financial aid to terrorists, preventing banned organisations from operating with new names, the formation of special anti-terrorism force and regularisation of religious seminaries known as madrassas.

Later today, a meeting of the National Security Committee will review situation on Line of Control (LoC) and continued atrocities of Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir.
