ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – In what apparently has come as a warning from Pakistan to India, Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif on Friday proclaimed that the country was capable of carrying out surgical strikes across India, a nuclear-armed rival.

Dunya News has exclusively obtained details of meeting of the federal cabinet presided over by the Prime Minister in Islamabad.

The premier stated that it was in conceivable of India to allege Pakistan of backing Uri attack within hours after the strike without any investigation or evidence.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif branded Indian claims of carrying out surgical strike in wee hours of Thursday morning after crossing mined territory on “foot,” false and cleared that Pakistan was capable of covertly landing anywhere in India and executing a pre-meditated operation.

Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan wanted peace to pursue its development agenda but every Pakistani was ready to defend the motherland if need be.

He stressed that Kashmir was an unfinished agenda of partition of the sub-continent and India’s continued brutalities in Occupied Kashmir and aggression were unacceptable.

Earlier before resumption of the meeting, Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said that India was using diversionary tactics in a bid to distract attention of the international community from its brutalities in held Kashmir.

He said that Pakistan would confront India diplomatically but our armed forces were also fully prepared to defend the country.
Support to the just struggle of the Kashmiri people would remain priority of Pakistan, he added.

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif reiterated while addressing the meeting that Pakistan did not want escalation of tensions but it was ready to meet any eventuality.

He said that Pakistan would respond befittingly to any firing by India across the Line of Control.

The Defence Minister said India was displaying irresponsible attitude and trying to play to the gallery in a bid to hoodwink its public opinion.

Meeting of the federal cabinet was summoned by the Prime Minister today after India falsely purported to the world that a surgical strike was carried out on Pakistani soil and terrorists were eliminated who were gearing up to execute attacks in India.

The Prime Minister is to chair a meeting of leaders of all parliamentary parties on Monday and that of the National Security Committee on Tuesday.
