Reply from Ministry of Religious Affairs sought in Hajj case

Lahore High Court has adjourned the hearing till July 26 for further proceedings.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday has sought detailed reply from Ministry of Religious Affairs for not allowing women above age 45 years to go on Hajj without a mahram.

Justice Ayesha A. Malik heard the case during which, the plaintiff Hadi Kausar said that according to Hajj police 2015, women above age 45 years can go on Hajj without a mahram and the High Court has also announced its verdict in this regard but the Hajj ministry is not accepting such applications.

During the hearing, Director Hajj Lahore told the court that the women can go only with a mahram as per Islamic Ideological Council upon which, the claimant’s counsel expressed resentment and said that the authorities should follow all the rules then.

Subsequently, the court has adjourned the hearing till July 26 and directed the Ministry for Religious Affairs to submit its response.
