Pakistanis paid the highest price in the war against terrorism, COAS says

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday met  Germany s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Both had discussion over bilateral relations between Pakistan and Germany and upon regional peace and stability, reported Dunya News.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) department, the German foreign minister lauded Pakistan’s efforts in the war against terrorism. He stated that Germany was aware of the difficulties faced by Pakistan in this regards and will continue supporting the country in all possible ways.

General Raheel Sharif also took part in the discussion of one of the renowned German policy making institutions and informed the participants of the efforts made by Pakistan in order to bring peace and stability in the region.

Army Chief said that Pakistan was carrying out Operation Zarb-e-Azb with great success, adding that the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) were cleared to a great extent. He stated that the terrorists’ communication network, their facilitators and sympathisers were wiped out.

General Raheel said that cooperation of the international community was needed in order to proceed with the next phase of uprooting terrorism from the country. He stated that Pakistanis have paid the highest price in the battle against terrorism by making the most sacrifices.
