PTI Chairman says that government will be allowed to resolve Panama Leaks issue till Eid
KARACHI (Dunya News) – While conversing in Dunya News’ programme ‘Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Saath’ Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan stated that efforts are being made in order to make sure that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif is not held accountable in regards to the Panama Leaks issue, adding that the entire governmental machinery is on its toes to defend the PM, reported Dunya News on Monday.
Khan stated that the governmental members in the parliamentary committee dealing with the formation of the Terms of References (TORs) catering the Panama Leaks issue demand that the name of the PM be removed from the TORs.
He enquired that ‘if the PM is not involved in any wrongdoing then what is there to be afraid of?’ adding that ‘why the investigation of the Panama Leaks cannot be initiated from the Prime Minister?’ He again offered to be accounted according to the TORs set for the investigation of the matter.
Imran Khan said that corruption in the country cannot be curbed until the Prime Minister and other ministers are not held accountable. He added that the government has taken loans worth Rs 6,000 billion during the past three years, further stating that there is no money to administer the affairs of the state whereas corruption is also at its peak at the same time.
PTI Chairman said that according to the report presented by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) corruption worth Rs 12 billion is done on daily basis in the country. He said that people have to pay the price of corruption being done in the form of taxes. He questioned that ‘if NAB is this much functional in the country, how come the rate of corruption is escalating?’ Khan said that the condition of the country will not improve until taxes are imposed on the rulers and the ministers.
Khan added that Pakistan will not have any future if the country is unable to get rid of corruption. PTI Chairman said that neither the country’s foreign policy has any significance nor the country itself, further stating that there is a monarchial setup in the country.
PTI Chairman said that if the party’s TORs are not accepted then they shall hit the streets and will not remain quiet. Imran Khan said that the government is being allowed to solve the matter till Eid.
