Enraged locals protest against prolonged power cut in Hyderabad
The protesters demanded the government to resolve the matter of power outage as early as possible.
HYDERABAD (Dunya News) – Residents of Bhittai Town and Marvi Town have blocked Hyderabad Bypass causing hundreds of vehicles to wait in queues as part of protest against long power outages, reported on Saturday.
The protesters stopped vehicles heading towards southern districts and pelted them with stones. They said that the government had claimed to not carry out unannounced load-shedding during Ramazan but they are made to bear 20-hour long outages.
Police reached the protesting site and tried to negotiate with the enraged people but failed.
The residents said that few days ago Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) officials took the area’s transformer for repairing process. They further urged the local administration to resolve the matter as early as possible.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had directed authorities concerned ahead of Ramazan to relieve the people of long power cut during Ramazan. The premier is in London and recovering from an open-heart surgery.
