Power outage continues during Sehr, Iftar despite govt's tall claims

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Electricity load shedding has continued to persist in the country during Sehr and Iftar timings despite government’s tall claims, reported on Wednesday.
Sources privy to National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) said that power generation has restricted to 14800 MW against the demand of 19300 MW while electricity shortfall has crossed 4500 MW.
According to new schedule issued by authorities, urban areas would face six to eight hours of power cut while eight to ten hours of load shedding would be carried out in rural areas.
The officials have also claimed that no unannounced power outage is being done in any area.
Earlier, Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali assured to eliminate power cut by March 2018.
The ruling party said that work is underway on power generation and laying new transmission lines in addition to upgrade the distribution system.
