ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Energy crisis has continued to prevail in the country despite government‘s tall claims as power generation has restricted to 14600 MW against the demand of 19100 MW amid ongoing hot weather in most parts of the country, reported on Sunday.
Sources privy to National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) told that electricity shortfall has crossed 4500 MW.
According to new schedule issued by authorities, urban areas would face eight hours of power cut while ten hours of load shedding would be carried out in rural areas.
The officials have also claimed that no unannounced power outage is being done in any area.
on the other hand, the government has ordered to avoid power outage during Sehr and Iftar timings in Ramazan.
Earlier, Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali assured to eliminate power cut by March 2018.
The ruling party said that work is underway on power generation and laying new transmission lines in addition to upgrade the distribution system.
