PM Nawaz does not operate any offshore companies; his name has been removed from Papers: ICIJ

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk, Dunya News) – International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) on Wednesday admitted that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s name was erroneously added in the Panama Papers, reported Dunya News.

ICIJ has removed the Prime Minister’s name from the Panama Papers and has further clarified that PM Nawaz does not operate any offshore companies and that his name in the Panama Papers was added as the result of an editing mistake on the basis of which it appeared on the website.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif informed the members of the federal cabinet during a meeting held on Wednesday that his innocence in regards to the Panama Leaks investigation will be proven through the accountability process.

PM stated that he has voluntarily nominated himself in the investigation of the matter despite the fact that his name is not in the Panama Papers. He added that he desires that the investigation process concludes soon so that the reality is made evident. "Have clean hands; will surge through the accountability process" PM acertained the members of the federal cabinet.

PM Nawaz directed the ministers not to respond to the allegations leveled by the opposition parties and to focus on the developmental projects.

The federal cabinet ministers added that the ICIJ s confession of its mistake has clarified the entire situation and that attempts regarding destabilising the government shall be futile.
