Khawaja Asif hands over JF-17 Thunder aircraft to PAF's Squadron-II
A fly past of JF-17 Thunder aircraft was also held on the occasion.
KARACHI (Web Desk) – The Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Monday formally handed over JF-17 Thunder aircraft to Squadron-II of Pakistan Air Force.
According to details, a ceremony pertaining to give JF-17 Thunder aircraft to PAF’s Squadron-II was held in Karachi. Khawaja Asif attended the ceremony and handed over command flag to second squadron of PAF.
Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman also was also present in the ceremony while a fly past of JF-17 Thunder aircraft was also held on the occasion.
Earlier, (PAF) completed its target of producing 16 JF-17 Thunder for the year 2015 on Monday. Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman expressed determination to produce up to 24 jets in 2016.
Addressing the ceremony, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said Pakistan Air Force has played pivotal role in war against terrorism and has broken backbone of terrorists.
Hsaid PAF has proved to be leading air force in the world and Government is committed to equipping it with latest gadgets.
The Minister said Pakistan is a peace loving country and desires to have good relations with world particularly neighbouring countries.
He said PAF has played effective role in Operation Zarb-e-Azb against terrorists.
Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman said all resources will be utilized for the security and defence of country.
He said that PAF-II squadron had commendable achievements during the 1965 and 1971 wars and effectively defended frontiers and waters of the motherland.
Air Chief said despite difficulties, we are committed to safeguarding the country.
He applauded the Chinese cooperation particularly in manufacturing JF-17 Thunder aircraft.
