Malala condemns Lahore blast, expresses solidarity with victims
Malala stated that all lives were sacred and should be protected.
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s Nobel Prize winner and a vocal advocate of female education, Malala Yousafzai, condemned the deadly suicide blast in Lahore’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, which left at least 71 dead and more than 300 injured, the casualties primarily being children.
In a statement issued by the Nobel laureate, Malala strongly condemned the terrorist attack and stated that all lives were sacred and said that she stands united with the victims and their families in this hour of need.
Malala has herself experienced these brutal terrorist acts at the hands of Taliban, as a terrorist gunmen shot her at point blank range, leaving her in a critical condition from which she fortunately recovered. She was targeted for her advocacy of female education in her native land of Swat. On one occasion, she was noted as saying
“If we want to end terrorism we need to bring quality education so we defeat the mindset of terrorism mentality and of hatred."

The country has been a witness to similar terrorist attacks in the past as well including an attack on Army Public School (APS) in Peshawar in 2014, which left hundreds of children dead and even more wounded.
Pakistan s leaders and its Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Shareef have ordered that the perpetrators be captured as soon as possible and vowed to bring them to justice.
