6.3-Magnitude Earthquake jolts many parts of country

A powerful earthquake measuring 6.3 on Richter scale jolts many parts of the country at about midnight between Friday and Saturday.The tremor jolted Islamabad, central Punjab province, north-western Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, the tribal belt bordering Afghanistan, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and northern areas at around 12:23 am.The epicenter of the quake was located in the Hindu Kush mountain range. People, who were asleep, rushed out of homes after feeling strong tremors that lasted several seconds. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.The tremors were also felt in Gilgit, Chitral, Skardu, Abbottabad, Swat, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Mansehra, Peshawar, Kohat, Nowshera, Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Sarai Alamgir.
