President Zardari would have to step down as co-chairman of PPP to take the appointment: sources

A legal hiccup has arrived on former President Asif Ali Zardari’s appointment as Pakistan People s Party Parliamentarians’ President on Wednesday. Election Commission has stated no person can hold the positions of in two parties simultaneously, reports Dunya News.

Troubles are coming in heaps for the former President as Election Commission has objected to Mr. Zardari’s appointment as President of Pakistan People s Party Parliamentarians. As per Political Parties Order (PPO) 2002, dual appointments in multiple parties are a violation of regulations.

According to sources, President Zardari would have to step down as co-chairman of Pakistan People s Party (PPP) in order to take Presidency of Pakistan People s Party Parliamentarians.
