KARACHI (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday strongly condemned the attack on military police vehicle and directed prompt arrest of the culprits, Dunya News reported.

Strongly condemning the attack, PM Nawaz expressed condolences with the families of the martyrs and ordered immediate arrest of the culprits. He said such cowardly acts cannot deter resolve against terrorism.

He said peace and stability is the only way to secure Karachi’s future.

Two Military Police personnel on Tuesday have embraced martyrdom in an attack on MA Jinnah Road near Tibet Centre.

The attack claimed lives of constable Rashid and Lance Naik Arshad.

Eyewitnesses have said that two men drove a motorcycle to the attack site and opened fire at the personnel.

PM Nawaz has offered his condolence to the families of martyrs and has taken notice of the incident in addition to ordering immediate arrest of the attackers.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcast Pervez Rashid has also expressed sorrow over the incident. He has vowed not to let the attackers get away from the dastardly attack on the lives of the uniformed personnel.

Sindh Police Inspector General (IG) and Additional IG has reached the attack site. While talking to the media, DIG South Dr Jameel said that attackers opened fire from the rear. He said that four to five 9mm shells have been recovered from the crime scene.

According to the latest reports, police have arrested a suspect from the area.

Meanwhile, Sindh Home Ministry has also taken notice of the incident. Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah has summoned a report from Sindh Police IG.

The attack has come around ten days after three Rangers personnel were martyred while four sustained injuries in an assailment in Ittehad Town area. Officials had suggested the attackers intended to target the mosque during Friday prayers.

It is pertinent to mention here that the incident has come four days before holding of local body (LB) polls in Sindh.
