Punjab govt waives agri loans of small flood-hit farmers
The Punjab Government has waived agricultural loans of small farmers in flood-affected areas. It has also announced to provide urea and seeds to farmers having land up to 25 hectares. Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif while addressing flood-affectees in DI Khan and Muzaffargarh waived the agricultural loans of small farmers. He also visisted the tandoors in Rojhan to provide roti to the victims. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that the provincial government was not provided any cash but it released 90 crore to the victims. On the other hand, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said that Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani called a meeting of health officials to discuss emerging health concerns in the flood-affected areas and warned the country to prepare for epidemics. He directed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to coordinate with the Ministry of Health to timely provide medical services to flood victims, especially women and children. An effective early warning disease monitoring system should also be in place at the tehsil, district and provincial levels, Gilani added.
