LHC summons reply from Health Secretary in Shaikh Zayed Hospital protest case
YDA's protests are against outsourcing of health facilities in Punjab
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday has issued notices to Health Secretary and other parties for not resolving strike matter of paramedics in Shaikh Zayed Hospital.
Petitioner’s counsel maintained that the LHC had ordered the Health Secretary to hear out the protesters and resolve the matter. He said that the government official did not take any step in the matter.
He further said that since the issue persists, the patients are suffering a lot from the ongoing disruption in medical processes.
The court summoned reply from the Health Secretary within a week.
Earlier in September, the staff had demanded the government to withdraw decision of privatization as according to them, it would have serious impact on healthcare system.
Moreover, Punjab Health Advisor, Khawaja Salman Rafiq was besieged in the building on his visit to the hospital due to irked protesters outside.
The decision of demonstrating protests against government’s outsourcing of health facilities in the province was taken in a meeting headed by Young Doctors Association (YDA) Dr Khurram Shahzad in start of October.
