ECP stops FAFEN from monitoring LB polls
FAFEN observers will not be allowed to monitor elections without security clearance, says ECP
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) stopped election monitoring agency, Free And Fair Election Network (FAFEN) from monitoring the Local Body polls, on Thursday. ECP asked FAFEN officials to get security clearance for their personnels before the election.
FAFEN is a non-governmental agency which monitors election thorugh their observers. According to ECP, the observers of FAFEN who would not get security clearance, will not be allowed to monitor the Local Body polls.
FAFEN officials said that ECP applied this condition too late and it is not possible to get security clearance for around 3000 observers of FAFEN before the polls.
