ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman’s spokesperson, Dr Shireen Mazari on Saturday said the government is continuously hurling baseless accusations against PTI over its peaceful sit-protest outside the Parliament last year, trying to link it to some grand conspiracy involving the military, specifically the ISI

In a press release, Mazari said the purpose is clearly to malign both the PTI and a strategic organisation of the state.

She said: “The PTI is fed up of such dangerous and debilitating games that the PMLN is playing, especially at a time when the military is involved in successful operations against terrorism.”

The spokesperson pointed out that the latest accusation has come from the Environment Minister Senator Mushahidullah in an interview given to a foreign media house, the BBC thereby ensuring that PTI and the Pakistan army are maligned internationally also. While the whole nation has condemned the MQM’s attack on the Army, members of the government are indulging in the same game.

Mazari said that although the PM has contradicted his Environment Minister’s claims, this game of accusations about the PTI dharna being part of a conspiracy by the ISI to bring down democracy and then some weak contradictions flowing from other members of the Cabinet – this time the PM himself – is becoming absurd.

“PTI has had enough of these shenanigans and we demand a commission be set up immediately to probe into these allegations. If anyone is found guilty of such a conspiracy they should be severely punished and if those making the accusations are exposed as liars then they need to be removed from Office and politics,” she added.

Mazari reminded that Imran Khan had repeatedly explained the reason for the PTI dharna because it came about as a last resort of seeking justice against electoral rigging in the 2013 General Elections.
