Child abuse case: Kasur victims throw shoe at IG Punjab
People of the area, relatives of the victims were irked while IG Punjab was holding news conference
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – People of the area and relatives of the victims of Kasur child abuse case went violent on Tuesday during IG Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera’s news conference in Kashmir and threw shoes at him, reported Dunya News.
According to details, IG Punjab went to Kasur to hold a press conference where the child abuse victims and residents of the area raised slogans against police. Protesters kept raising slogans demanding suspension of SP Investigation and DPO Kasur during IG’s press conference. They surrounded IG Punjab while he was trying to return from the scene. One of the protesters threw his shoe on IG Punjab but it hit another officer. They also surrounded police’s cars. IG Punjab left the place amid high security.
Holding the press conference earlier, IG Punjab said that 7 people have been accused by the local police but this case will now be investigated by Joint Investigation Team (JIT). He said that everyone will witness justice if it gets proved before the JIT that the police gave favor to the suspects or refused to register cases against them. “There will be an example set. Nobody will need to go to the military courts if it gets proven”, he added.
IG said he was sorry for the clash between the protesters and the police. He said that cases will be registered on every application in this case but requested the people not to file fake cases. IG Punjab also announced action against SHO Ganda Singh Wala Police Station under regulatory and criminal provisions.
