Russian company to lay pipeline from Karachi to Lahore for imported LNG

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Russian company on Friday has green signaled laying a gas pipeline from seaport to Punjab for imported liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Petroleum Ministry said that Russia has permitted a private company named RT Global to lay a gas pipeline from Karachi to Lahore. Inter State Gas System and RT Global will lay at least 1,200 kilometres (KM) long pipeline.

The project will provide at least 1 billion cubic feet LNG to Punjab. The ministry authorities further said that the project is hoped to start in 2016 after winding up formalities. Experts say that Pakistan bears billions of losses annually due to energy crisis. Productive steps will not just benefit industries but also create job opportunities.
