British newspaper raises question over Reham Khan's degree
Let alone Broadcasting Journalism course, they do not teach journalism, say college officials
LAHORE (Dunya News) – British newspaper Daily Mail on Wednesday has raised question over former British Broadcasting Corporation s (BBC) broadcast journalist and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s wife, Reham Khan s degree as North Lindsey College denies offering the course.
Daily Mail reported about Khan’s alleged postgraduate programme degree.
Khan claimed to have studied Broadcast Journalism in North Lindsey College after which she landed a job in BBC. However, the college officials have denied having any student with her name in records of the institution.
The college authorities said that they do not offer any such course infact, they do not teach journalism in the first place.
The media outlet claims to have tried to approach Khan for comment on the matter but could not get any. It is not the first time when Khan’s past has come under a microscope.
In the afternoon, Khan tweeted about the matter. She wrote, " This morning is a great example of why I have never picked up the Daily Mail & why I don t watch Pakistani TV channels." She further said, "If you try to address real pertinent issues in Pakistan a select lobby will attack you. It comes with the domain. Does not, will not deter me."
Khan also said that the media is promoting senseless propaganda of few people.
Earlier, Dunya News contacted PTI member Naeemul Haq who said that he has read the story. The story raises question over Reham s admission in the college and not over her degree, he added. He further said that Khan s mobile phone is switched off and she would respond to the allegations soon.
Earlier, she alleged her ex-husband of domestic violence however, the 54-year-old NHS psychiatrist, Dr Ijaz Rehman denied the accusation.
The newspaper had broke the news about Imran Khan s marriage with Reham days before the couple officially made an announcement. In light of the earlier revelation that turned out to be true, the question over degree seems to have a spark.
