Ex-TTP spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid killed in drone strike

Shahidullah Shahid was the third most senior commander of Daesh in Afghanistan.

(Web Desk) - The Islamic State member in Afghanistan — a former Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan spokesman — has been killed in a drone strike in Nangarhar province, Afghan broadcaster TOLOnews reported.

Shahidullah Shahid, who was the leader of Daesh for Khorasan province, was killed Tuesday in a drone strike on Achin district in eastern Nangarhar, in which the deputy commander of Daesh Gul Zaman, his deputy and five others were also killed, said the Afghan National Directorate of Security (NDS) on Thursday.

According to NDS, Shahid whose real name was Sheikh Maqbool wanted to launch a regional fight and that to begin from Afghanistan s Nangarhar province. He was the third most senior commander of Daesh in Afghanistan being killed over the past few months.

Shahid had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group last October and was later sacked by the TTP.

The Islamic State, also known as Daesh, ISIS and ISIL, controls vast swaths of Syria and Iraq.
