Lahore: 42 killed in Data Darbar blasts

At least 42 people were killed while over 175 others sustained injuries when three blasts occurred in Data Darbar Lahore on Thursday night.According to rescue sources, 175 injured have been shifted to hospitals including Meo Hospital and more than 40 injured are stated to be in critical condition. These injured people are admitted in ICU for immediate operations. A number of women and children are also among the injured. As per Dunya News correspondent, all three blasts were occurred in the premises of Data Darbar and these blasts might be suicide ones. Rescue teams were reached the sport instantly and started relief activities. Emergency have been declared in the hospitals where the injured are being shifted. It was Friday night, so there was more rush in the Darbar. According to Dunya News correspondent, at least 15,000 people were gathered in the Darbar for prayers. Security forces have totally cordoned off the area to avoid any other untoward incident.Complete failure of govt agencies, says Raja Zahid Prominent representative of Tehreek-e-Minahaj Raja Zahid speaking to Dunya News said that those responsible have no connection with any religions. He called that these terrorist are animals. He said that such people are the worst possible human beings. He said that government just claims to be providing fool proof security but they have completely failed. He also expressed dissatisfaction since the terrorists can penetrate anywhere at will.Government should beef up security, says Dewan Azmat Fayaz Religious scholar Sajjada Nasheen of Pakpatan Sharif Dewan Azmat Fayaz Muhammad speaking to Dunya News said the incident marks a conspiracy to destabilize the country. It is extremely disappointing to witness that the terrorists have started direct targeting of religious sites across the country. Azmat Fayaz demanded the government to beef up security. He urged the government take the matter seriously. He added that such security lapses are intolerable. He urged the people to remain calm and cooperate with the relief operations being carried out by the government. Govt should take concrete steps instead of giving statements, says Mufti Muhammad Naeem Muhtaim Darul-ulloam Banoria, Mufti Muhammad Naeem talking to Dunya News condemned the incident; He said that all kinds of religious sites including mosques, imam bargahs and mausoleums are being targeted. He said that foreign forces are trying to destabilize the country. He advised that the government should openly punish all those who are involved in such incidents so that such happeings cannot be repeated in the future. He said that all Pakistanis are peace loving. He urged the Ulemas and religious scholars to advice for peace and unity. People should control their aggression. The government should take concrete steps instead of just giving statements.Suicide bombers are Muslims, says Moulana Zafar NaqaviRepresentative Majlis Wahdat-ul-Musleemean, Moulana Hassan Zafar Naqavi said that he sympathizes with all those who have incurred loss of life due to the blasts. He said that all these suicide bombers are Muslims and stressed that there is no point of calling them non-Muslims. He said that terrorism have taken over Pakistan from Khyber to Karachi. He said that law enforcing agencies apprehend the culprits however due to weak judicial system the terrorist can get away from punishment. He said that there is no easy solution since the judicial system is weak. He added that Shia, Sunni and all other sects are being targeted. He urged the ulemas to get together and demonstrate unity. CCPO Lahore admits major security lapse CCPO Lahore, Aslam Tareen termed the incident as extremely unfortunate. He expressed disappointment and said that it is difficult to imagine how anyone can target such a holy place. He informed that the rescue operation is underway. People are taking the dead bodies of their loved ones. He also informed that several threats still persisting in Lahore.He said that walk through gates have were installed and claimed that sufficient security was also present at the mausoleum. He said that the investigation teams are looking trying to figure out as to how the terrorists managed to penetrate. He admitted that there has been a security lapse. He said that Darbar also has private security. We are deploying all possible resources to combat terrorism. He added that Police is taking assistance from intelligence agencies as well though no clues yet. He informed that the site inspection is complete.
