Chinese ship with 180 Pakistanis leaves for Djibouti: FO

Dunya News

The Chinese vessel will reach Djibouti by 9:00pm on Thursday.

(Web Desk) - A Chinese ship with 180 Pakistani nationals on board has left from Yemeni city of Aden for Djibouti, the Foreign Office confirmed on Thursday.

According to FO spokesperson Tasnim Aslam, the Chinese vessel will reach Djibouti by 9:00pm today.

A special PIA aircraft, which is on standby at Karachi airport, will depart for Djibouti to airlift the citizens once they reach the African country.

Arrangements have already been made by the Pakistani diplomatic staff in Djibouti for the immigration, related documentation and their temporary stay there.

On the other hand, a Pak Navy ship has also reached Mokallah to rescue remaining people.

Reportedly, 45 Pakistani nationals are still stuck in a hospital in Sana’a.

With increased fighting and aerial bombing, the officials said they did not get permission for evacuating citizens stranded in Sana’a. Adding to logistical issues is the fact that Sana’a is land locked and there is no safe passage between Sana`a and Aden.

On Sunday, Yemeni fighters loyal to Saudi-backed President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi clashed with Iranian-allied Houthi fighters in downtown Aden, the absent leader s last major foothold in the country.
