Senate election in FATA; 4 candidates including Taj Afridi won

4 members boycotted the elections and did not take part in the polling

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senate election for FATA completed the Upper House on Friday. There were a total of 36 candidates for the 4 seats of senate from FATA. Taj Mohammad Afridi, Aurangzeb Khan Afridi, Moman Khan Afridi and Sajjad Toori got elected as senators from FATA.

Polling for senate’s 4 seats started at 9am and continued till 4pm. There were only 11 voters to vote for 36 candidates. 4 members, Shahabul Din, Jamalul Din, Ghalib Khan and Qaiser Khan boycotted the elections and did not take part in the polling.

According to unofficial resources, Taj Afridi and Aurangzeb Khan Aurakzai both took 7, 7 votes while Moman Khan Afridi and Sajjad Toori both took 6 votes each. Usman Ali had the duties of returning officer.

Senate elections on FATA seats were cancelled on 5 March by the presidential order. Government took the presidential order back afterwards and elections took place according to the old procedure.
