Court dismisses Ayyan Ali's bail plea
Ayyan acquired the money by selling a property to Khalid Malik, lawyer added.
Rawalpindi (Dunya News) – Customs court in Rawalpindi has dismissed the bail plea of supermodel Ayyan Ali regarding money laundering case today (Monday), Dunya News reported.
According to details, the court remarked that the case is not a common case rather an important one as it involves money laundering.
The hearing presided over by Judge Mumtaz Hassan Chaudhry was held in a Customs Court.
Ayyan’s father Muhammad Hafeez and a panel of lawyer presented themselves in the court on the behalf of the suspect.
The court accepted the request of Ayyan’s father, Muhammad Hafeez, to become a party in the trial and issued summon in this regard.
Muhammad Hafeez said that the case against his daughter is propaganda and nothing more whereas the life of Ayyan is in danger.
Ayyan’s lawyers were of the view that it is not a smuggling case as she had not yet taken the boarding card when arrested by the officials whereas Ayyan acquired the money by selling a property to Khalid Malik, brother of former interior minister Rehman Malik.
Prosecutor opposed the arguments and said that the case comes under smuggling as the suspect was caught red-handed on the airport.
He said that there is a set process of money transfer according to which a sum of money can be moved from one place to another.
The country faces economic crisis due to money laundering system, he added.
Furthermore, the prosecutor adopted the stance that no progress has been made in the investigation as the model has undergone excuses of illness.
While talking to media, Ayyan’s father said that her daughter is innocent and is wrongly framed.

Earlier, Ayyan was arrested at the Benazir International Airport Islamabad by the Airport Security Forces (ASF) for having at least US $ 506,800 in her bags while leaving for Dubai. Later, the ASF handed her over to the Custom authorities.
The Custom authorities presented her before a local court upon which she was sent on a 14-day judicial remand upon which she submitted a bail plea.
The supermodel is currently being kept in Adiala Jail Rawalpindi.
