Official notification issued for FATA senate elections postponement
ECP issues the official notification; election was postponed due to ambiguous presidential ordinance
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued the official notification of postponement of Senate elections in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on Friday, Dunya News reported.
The elections were postponed on Thursday due to ambiguity in the presidential ordinance issued a day prior to the elections. Returning Officer (RO) had postponed the election due to the ambiguity created by the ordinance.
According to the ECP, the articles 2, 3 and 5 of the presidential order are contradictory. ECP stated that the elections in FATA are not possible until a new and clearly worded order is issued.
