Senate elections: Pashtoonkhwa MAP, PML-N win 3 seats each from Balochistan
PML-N Sadar Yaqoub Nasir's defeat is a major upset for the party
BALOCHISTAN (Dunya News) – Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (MAP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Thursday have won at least three seats each in the Senate. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) and Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) won one seat each.
The candidates in Balochistan contested for as many as 12 seats of the Senate. PML-N Sadar Yaqoub Nasir got as many as six votes which was one of the major upset for the party. Independent candidate Yousaf Badeeni defeated Nasir by a humungous margin. Sana Jamali also did not win but her at least 15 votes played part in PML-N candidate’s defeat.
On the general seats, National Party’s Mir Hasil Bazenjo, MAP Muhammad Usman Kakkar and Azam Musa Khel, JUI Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, PML-N Naimatullah Zehri, BNP-Mengal Jahanzaib Jamaldeeni and independent candidate Yousaf Badeeni won the election. National Party’s Kabir Muhammad Shahi and PML-N Agha Shahbaz Durrani won the election on technocrat seats.
Pashtoonkhwa MAP Gul Bushra and PML-N Kalsoom Parveen won the election on women seats.
