ATC sends MQM's Abdul Rafiq Rajput on 90-day remand
The accused was presented before the anti-terrorism court amid tight security.
KARACHI (Web Desk) – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has handed over Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s sector in-charge Abdul Rafiq Rajput in Rangers custody on ninety days remand, Dunya News reported on Monday.
According to Rangers, the in-charge of MQM-A Mehmoodabad sector was taken into custody on Saturday night following an anonymous tip-off regarding presence of criminals in Mehmoodabad area.
Rangers claimed that the held suspect during initial interrogation confessed to his involvement in the May 12 carnage and other incidents of target killings.
The accused was presented before the court amid tight security where Rangers authorities sought his 90-day remand for further interrogation.
Takling to media outside the court, defense lawyer claimed that his client is innocent. He is being politcally victimised.
According to sources, Abdul Rafique Rajput is Grade 18 employee at the State Bank. The bank management has been notified regarding criminal record of the suspect.
