KARACHI (Dunya News) – Transport Mafia in Karachi has snubbed to reduce the transport fares as petrol prices slashed followed the orders of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif, Dunya News reported on Monday.

According to sources, most of the petrol pumps in Punjab witnessed a long queue of vehicles due to the unavailability of fuel whereas some of the petrol pumps were closed for sale.

Most of the pumps in Dera Ghazi Khan and Bhakkar were shut down after the price reduction announcement while in Pishin the petrol is being sold at old prices.

Moreover, in Sargodha the administration registered a case against 13 petrol pump owners and arrested at least 12 people on creating fake shortage of petrol in the metropolis.

On the other hand, the transport fare in Sindh and Lahore was cut down after the decrease in petroleum products prices however, the Karachi transport mafia refused to lower the rates creating troubles for the citizens.

Moreover, the government has claimed that no shortage of fuel exists in the country while Federal Minister Pervaiz Rasheed urged the provincial government to take steps for eliminating the problems of people.

Despite the decline in petroleum products prices, people are still deprived of relief due to the persisting inflation.
