Local body elections to be held in KP without biometric system
The institution does not trust the biometric system's transparency, says ECP
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of Pakistan Justice (r) Sardar Raza Khan on Monday has said that the local body elections would be held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) without the biometric system as the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) does not trust the transparency of the biometric system.
The CEC said that the already in use process would be used to hold elections in the KP and biometric system would not be used for the local body elections.
According to the ECP, there were many issues regarding voting through the biometric system and the institution does not have trust in the system’s transparency.
