Tribunal maintains a dual policy in regard to rigging probe in Punjab and Sindh, says Opp Leader.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Wednesday requested freshly appointed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (Retd) Sardar Raza Khan to take notice of election tribunal’s procedure.

Talking to the media at his chamber in the Parliament House he said the candidate with second highest votes was declared winner after election tribunal forwarded the rigging complaint whereas reelections were suggested on rigging allegations in Punjab.

Why was a dual policy maintained by the election tribunal in regard to rigging probe in Punjab and Sindh, he questioned.

Election tribunal Karachi on Saturday announced Ghous Ali Shah of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) successful thereby declaring the success of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Nawab Wasaan null and void.

Syed Ghous Ali Shah filed an electoral petition against the triumph of Nawab Wassan in NA-215, accepting which, election tribunal Karachi reserved its decision after listening to the arguments of both parties’ lawyers.

According to details, Nawab Wassan of PPP got 91,809 votes in elections 2013 whereas Ghous Ali Shah of PML-N gained 66,481 votes.

Election tribunal Karachi had sent 1,74,291 votes to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for confirmation whereas NADRA only verified 47,291 votes.

However, 99,752 votes were declared to be unrecognizable by NADRA authorities.

As a result of recounting, election tribunal Karachi decided to declare Ghous Ali Ali successful in NA-125 constituency.
