Gujranwala: DCO orders arrests over public display of weapons in PTI rally
The rally gave a view of a battle and looked nothing like a political activity
GUJRANWALA (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters on Thursday publicly displayed weapons in a rally, resultantly District Coordination Officer (DCO) ordered their arrest for breaking the law.
The rally was conducted in connection with the upcoming PTI seminar scheduled for November 23 in Gujranwala. The rally started from Chan Da Qila and ended on GT Road via downtown.
PTI members not only had Kalashnikovs but 222 rifles were also exhibited publicly by the participants of the rally.
Police from at least two police stations were deployed for the security of the rally.
The rally presented a view of a battle and looked nothing like a political activity.
Provincial Minister Ijaz Chaudhry said that it was not an exhibition of weapons but guards of the local PTI members had held licensed guns for protection from ‘Gullu Butts’.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Rana Sanaullah Khan, while stressing the arrest of PTI members who displayed weapons, said that Imran Khan stands on a container and gives a speech against violence while his own people do this.
