18th amendment bill tabled in Senate

The 18th Amendment Bill was presented in Senate although there was opposition to the bill from Senator Waseem Sajjad. The members of Senate were protesting against the killings of innocent people in Abbotabad. Chairman Constitutional Reforms Committee Senator Raza Rabbani on Monday tabled the 18th constitutional amendment bill in the Senate He also informed the house that the government would investigate the loss of life in Abbotabad.The bill has been presented in the Senate to repeal the amendments made by the dictators. Chairman Senate Farooq H Naek expressed satisfaction over the passage of 18th Amendment Bill from the National Assembly and hoped that it would be passed in the current session of the Senate. He was speaking at a meeting of Senate House Business Advisory Committee here at Parliament House on Monday. He expressed his resolve to run the House with consensus of the House in line with the democratic traditions and values of the Upper House.It was decided in the meeting that the parliamentary leaders would be given maximum 30 minutes while other Senators would speak for 10 to 15 minutes on the subject, respectively.It is pertinent to mention here that the National Assembly has unanimously passed the bill.In the session, amendments have also been presented for creation of new provinces.The meeting was attended by Leader of the House Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari, Leader of the Opposition Wasim Sajjad, Chief Whip, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, Chaudhary Shujahat Hussain, Raja Zafarul Haq, Maulana Gul Naseeb, Dr. Khalid Mehmood Soomro, Babar Khan Ghauri, Tahir Mashhadi, Jehangir Badar, Salahuddin Dogar, Sardar Ali Khan, Afrasiab Khan Khattak, Abbas Afridi, Abdul Rahim Mankokhel, Haji Muhaamd Adeel, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Islam Uddin Shaikh, Zahid Khan, Abdul Haseeb, Mir Israrullah Zehri, Professor Khurshed Ahmed, Talha Mehmood, Shahid Hassan Bugti, Abdul Raziq Khan and Idress Khan Safi.
