'Hijacking case' will be lodged if plane not vacated within an hour: Emirates Airline

Flight EK612 from Dubai to Islamabad was forcefully diverted towards Lahore, the airline said.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Emirates Airline has warned the Pakistani government ?to have ?EK612? vacated within an hour otherwise a case will be lodged regarding hijacking of the plane, Dunya News reported on Monday. ?

Emirates Airline administration on Monday contacted the federal government to discuss the issue.

The plane is still at the airport after 3 hours as PAT chief Dr. Tahirul Qadri has refused to disembark in Lahore. 

It may be mentioned here that flight EK612 had landed at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport at 9:35am.

Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid said Qadri has ‘practically’ hijacked the plane by refusing to get off.

In a statement, he said the decision to divert plane from Islamabad to Lahore was taken for the security of Tahirul Qadri and the passengers.

Any untoward incident could occur at the Islamabad airport in the presence of charged crowd there. He said the workers of Tahirul Qadri are resorting to lawlessness.
