AIG Karachi Shahid Hayat, other OPS officers removed on SC order

Senior police officer Ghulam Kadir Thebo has been appointed as Additional IG Karachi.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Sindh government on Thursday removed all Own Pay Scale (OPS) officers on the orders of Supreme Court (SC).

The Sindh government has also ordered removal of Assistant Inspector General Police (AIG) Karachi Shahid Hayat and appointed Ghulam Kadir Thebo as AIG.

According to details, the Sindh government removed 177 OPS officers three days ago and another nine today (Thursday).

It is pertinent to mention here that the government decided to appoint Shahid Hayat after a high level meeting regarding headed by PM Nawaz Sharif in December 2013.

The situation in Karachi improved to some extent with the appointment of Shahid Hayat and targeted operation against miscreants.

However, some political parties had been blaming Hayat for illegal arrests and detention of their workers but the Sindh government but the Sindh government did not remove him.

The other OPS officers removed from their present positions included AIG IG CID Tahir Naveed, AIG Crime Sain Rakhiyo Mirani, AIG Research and Development Bashir Memon, DIG Sukkur Shakil Kharal, DIG Larkana Khadim Hussain Rind, DIG Special Branch Hydeabad Muzaffar Sheikh, DIG Admin Karachi Abdullah Sheikh and DIG T & T Asif Ijaz Sheikh.
