A heavy exchange of fire has reportedly been going on since the last few hours.

MUZAFFARABAD (Web Desk) – Indian troops today (Friday) resorted to firing and shelling on Pakistani posts in Poonch district, the latest in a series of violations of the ceasefire in the region.

As per preliminary reports, heavy shelling started from across the border this morning.

According to ISPR, Indian forces used mortars and heavy guns during the attack, however, there was no loss of life or injury in the firing.

Pakistani troops guarding the borderline retaliated with full force silencing the Indian guns.

On December 24, 2013, the directors’ general military operations (DGMOs) of both sides had agreed to maintain ceasefire to ease tension and ensure peace at the Line of Control (LoC).

The LoC and working boundary witnessed intense skirmishes last year. The clashes had followed January attack on a Pakistani military post by Indian troops and the August ambush on an Indian border patrol by insurgents.
