India plans to build Basrar Dam on Chenab

In a sheer breach of the Indus Water Treaty, India is planning to build Basrar Dam on River Chenab.According to sources, the planned dam would be 829feet long, while it could store 2million acre feet besides it could generate 1200megawatts power. India is also building dams on Swal Kot, Pakal Dal and Ker Thal areas, while the initial topographical survey has been carried out in this regard.Reports said that the planned dam is not only against the Indus Water Treaty but also a violation of the International Environment Convention, besides it would dry up Pakistan greatly.
