Martyred SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam laid to rest in Gizri graveyard

The funeral prayers of Chaudhry Aslam was offered at the Police headquarter near Hassan Square.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Martyred SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam has been laid to rest in Gizri graveyard here on Friday.
Earlier, the funeral prayers of martyred Chaudhry Aslam and his companions was held at Police Headquarters near Hassan Square.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Corps Commander Karachi, DG Rangers, IG Sindh Shahid Nadeem Baloch, Karachi Police Chief Shahid Hayat, Information Minister Sindh Sharjeel Memon, former provincial minister Syed Owais Muzaffar, members from Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Mutehda Qaumi Movement (MQM)and many other personalities were also present at the funeral of Chaudhary Aslam.

The funerals of Chaudhary Aslam, his guard and driver, were also given ‘Guard of Honour’ by contingent of police, while Corps Commander Karachi laid floral wreath on the funeral of Chaudhry Aslam on behalf of Army Chief General Raheel Sharif.

Chaudhry Aslam and three other policemen from his squad were martyred in an explosion on Lyari Espressway near Essa Nagri in Karachi on Thursday. The blast occurred when a convoy of police vehicles was passing from Essa Nagri graveyard. SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam’s vehicle was targeted in the blast.

The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Mohmand Agency claimed the responsibility of the attack.

According to post-mortem report issued by medico-legal department of Jinnah Hospital, Karachi, Chaudhry Aslam received severe injuries at chest while half part of his head had damaged in the blast and he died on the spot.

The report said that 50 percent rear side of his body left elbow badly affected and his ribs were also broken while he was identified because of beard on his face.

On the other hand, a joint investigation team headed by DIG Zafar Bukhari visited the crime scene.

Talikng to media, Zafar Bukhari said that it was a suicide attack and a big quantity of explosive material was used in the explosion.

According to initial investigation, around 100 kilograms of explosive material was used in the blast while a pick-up van and blue colour drums were used to target Chaudry Aslam. The report further said that a man who brought the explosive material to the crime scene, also died in the blast.

The report added that the incident occurred due to negligence of Motorway police. It said that the Motorway Police does not obtain record of any vehicle entering the Lyari Expressway.

Five months ago, the terrorists also tried to target Chaudhry Aslam at the same place.

Meanwhile, police arrested a man at Agha Khan Hospital who came to visit a patient who injured in the blast while police had also arrested an injured person earlier.

It is important to mention that several attacks had previously targeted SSP CID Chaudhry Aslam.

On September 19, 2011, a suicide attack targeting his residence was carried out in Karachi. Addressing the media after the incident, Chaudhry Aslam said I will bury the attackers in the same place.

In January 2006, Gunmen attacked SSP Aslam in Gizri area of Defence.
