Cabinet's Defense Committee meets to review 4-point agenda
PM Nawaz is chairing meeting of Cabinet's Defense Committee in Islamabad today (Thursday).
(Web Desk) - Meeting of the Defense Committee of the cabinet is underway in Islamabad with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in chair.
The committee will discuss 4-point agenda including matters relating to security situation and war against terrorism. It will also discuss recent tension at the Line of Control besides regional situation and foreign policy issues.
The committee will review options against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) whether to hold talks or use force against them to ensure peace in the country.
Military leadership will also present its recommendations regarding eradication of terrorism.
Situation after US draw down from Afghanistan will also be discussed in the meeting.
It is the first meeting of the defense committee since the assumption of power by the Pakisan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Khalid Shamim Wayne‚ Services Chiefs and members of the committee nominated by the prime minister are attending the meeting.
The prime minister himself has kept the portfolios of defense and foreign ministries; therefore‚ he is also representing these ministries in the meeting.
