Ch Nisar loses PP-7 after vote recount

PML-N leader Ch Nisar Ali has lost his PP-7 seat in the face of PTI Muhammad Siddique.


RAWALPINDI (Dunya News):-The Election Commission had ordered recounting of votes from PP-7 where some elements had complaints about rigging.

 

Impartial media and non-aligned lawyers also observed the recounting of votes from PP 7 and confirmed the victory of PTI candidate Muhammad Siddique who has defeated his rival former Opposition leader Ch Nisar Ali Khan.

 

Opposition Leader in the outgoing National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has secured NA-52 seat in Rawalpindi leaving behind his competitors Lt-Gen Ajmal Sabir Raja of PTI and PML-Q’s Muhammad Basharat Raja.


Nisar has been elected an MNA seven times (in 1985, 1988, 1990, 1993, 1997, 2002 and 2008) –from NA-52 (Rawalpindi-III) in 2002 and from NA-53 (Rawalpindi – IV) in 2008.


He has served as federal minister for petroleum and natural resources in PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif’s governments and was placed under house arrest after the 1999 coup staged by former military ruler Pervez Musharraf.
